Chronic Headache

There are several acute and chronic headache syndromes including migraine, tension, cluster, and cervicogenic (originates from the cervical spine). Alpine Health & Wellness is equipped to treat these varied headache syndromes with occipital nerve blocks and medications including Botox. Furthermore, we can coordinate treatment with other providers such as advanced injection therapy, biofeedback, physical therapy, acupuncture, and nutritional counseling.

According to certain migraine studies, approximately 13% of American adults experience migraines and 2-3 million of those adults experience chronic migraines (https://migraine.com/migraine-statistics/). Migraine symptoms include but are not limited to the following: throbbing or pulsating pain, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea, pain on one side of the head, blurry or otherwise altered vision, seeing an "aura", and/or vomiting. Ask anyone who has experienced a migraine before and most will say the same thing: any of these symptoms alone can be extremely bothersome, but a combination of two or more can be utterly debilitating. In addition to the physical maladies attributed to migraines, they can also afflict those who suffer from them with significant psychological distress. 91% of people who have experienced migraines say they must skip work and/or cannot function normally during the migraine, and if someone experiences an inability to function normally for extended periods of time, they become prone to significantly increased stress levels (https://migraine.com/migraine-statistics/). This increased stress can also be caused by frequent headaches of other varieties (such as the ones above), and thus, any type of chronic headache can lead to a decreased quality of life.
